Q. Are “Cruise Nights” considered local car shows or do the events have to be more formalized where judging is taking place and awards are being given out?
A. The purpose of the Challenge is to get out there and drive, and a local Cruise Night fits the bill and counts as a point as long as either, 1) you get 6 additional classic cars in the photo—they don’t have to be British—or, 2) the Cruise-Night has some kind of banner/signage that’s in the photo.

Q. What is the definition of “Official Sign”? Does it have to be a government sign or can it be a business (i.e, Fillmore and Western Railway Station) or other non-government sign (like Fillmore Historical Musuem)?
A. This is a letter-of-the-law versus spirit-of-the-law question. We’re more interested in Challengers following the Spirit of the rules so that everyone can enjoy themselves and also compete on a level playing field. Use your best judgement, have fun and take pictures of permanent looking signs that accurately represent where you’ve traveled. If you find a really cool sign that feels “official” to you … take the picture!

mmc_firedeptQ. Can I use a sign from a vehicle like a Fire Truck?
A. Nope, they don’t count, here’s why: Signs have to be stationary so they only appear within the boundaries they mark. Vehicles and other non-stationary forms of signs are often found outside their home area and therefore not accepted. Oh yes, we’re tough judges! *grin*

Q.
Is this contest based on individual accomplishments or can it be for an entire British Car club?
A. Yes.
In the end the winners are going to be awarded based on individual effort. But clubs are invited and encouraged to build on the Challenge and make it their own. If a club wants to set up a group drive to earn points, or award a prize to the top challenger in their group, Moss supports that wholeheartedly.

Q. Submission must take place in the form of a photo CD or printed photo? Why do you have an email link for the photos? Can a person submit via email?
A. Although it seems a bit old fashioned to mail anything these days, at the end of the year we suspect many of our Challengers will have more than a few photos to submit. Email works great for a couple pictures, but 10, 20 or 50 shots would take many emails and could quickly get confusing on our end. We’ve provided an email link for you to send a couple pictures to receive bonus points. We’re looking forward to displaying your favorite shots throughout the year to inspire and entertain the other participants!

Q.
Can I use an iPad or other mobile tablet to display the 2013 Motoring Challenge flyer?
A. Dang, that’s a interesting idea! If it shows up okay in the photos, go for it.

Q.
Do you want our photo submissions labeled a specific way?
A. Just as simple and clear as you can make it. For example: city_A.jpg could represent a photo for an Albuquerque sign to fulfill the “City, Village, Town…” category.

Q. I have a bunch of British cars and I like to drive them all! Do the points for each car add together for the total earned?
A. Funny the things you learn when you do them for the first time.  We’ve recently adjusted the form to allow you to register five of your cars to use in the Challenge throughout the year. All your British cars add to your points total. If you have more cars than five, please do drive them and capture the points. If anyone is goofy enough to try and claim pictures with cars that aren’t theirs … well, that could be embarrassing when the pictures are displayed.

Q. For whatever reason, I am not able to send bonus point photos through your button on the left. Can I just type in an email address instead?
A. Use this one: editor@mossmotors.com.

Q. What exactly constitutes an LBC? Does a 1993 Range Rover Classic qualify?
A. Is a Range Rover “Little”? No, not really. Is it a classic? Depends who you ask. But, since you’re asking British enthusiasts, you are in the clear. As a soft rule, British cars 20 years and older qualify.
