There Are Legends and Then There are Real Legends

Denise McCluggage definitely fits into the latter category. She was a legendary racer who competed against Phil Hill, Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, Carroll Shelby and Juan Manuel Fangio. She won the GT class at Sebring running a Ferrari 250, won the Copa de Damas at the Grand Prix of Venezuela and the sedan class at the Monte Carlo Rally.

As an automotive journalist she had a national column and helped create Autoweek (which she still writes for today) and is the only writer in the Automotive Hall of Fame.

She dated Steve McQueen, married Michael Conrad from Hill Street Blues and broke some of the biggest hearts in racing and Hollywood.

We have been fortunate to be able to have called her a friend for years and she is one of the most entertaining figures in motor sports. She is a hoot and a half and listening to her speak of the glory days will send chills down your spine.

If you would like the chance to hang out with her for cocktails and listen to her speak at a fancy dinner be sure to plan on attending The National Meet for British Car Week in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We will also be announcing other stars and speakers soon that will be there. The best cars from each marque will be on display and celebrities from around the globe will be in attendance for this, the premier British car event on the calendar.
